Courses Offered

Realizing the growing importance of Pharmacy at the Global front, in general, and India in particular, the Society established the Vaagdevi College of Pharmacy, in the year 1997, offering a 4 – year degree course, B.Pharm. Understanding the need for a bridge course, Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm.). was later introduced, in the year 2003. On successful completion of eight years of impending education with professional standards, in the year 2004, a need for growth of the College to Master’s Program was felt by the Society and the proposal was put-up with the AICTE, State Govt., and the University. It could successfully get the sanction to offer M.Pharm. Program with Pharmacognosy at this college, for the academic year 2004-2005. This is being strengthened with the AICTE, New Delhi’s approval for M.Pharm with Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the academic year 2005-2006, onwards.

With the increase in number of ailments and diseases apart from overgrowth in population, there is a desperate need for more drug supply and its channelization so that the drugs reach the needy. Here comes the role of a Qualified Pharmacist. The Pharmacist is not only a connecting link between the doctors and the patients but also a prime person in the development of Health Care System in the country. Pharmacists also contribute to the rational, judicious and cost – effective use of the medicaments.
